A few years ago I bought one of the first hard-drive based video cameras, the Sony HDR-SR1. While it's served me well over the years, I now want better audio when using it to film interviews.
I tried the standard microphone accessory from Sony, but was underwhelmed with the result.
I also film with my Canon 500D which has a standard hotshot mount, so the Rode VideoMic fits like a champ. I'd love to use the VideoMic with the Sony HDR-SR1, but because of Sony's use of a propriatory hotshoe mount, this isn't possible.
I'm now searching for a Sony-to-standard mount. If Sony want to continue using their own mount (not sure why they can't just use the standard one), then they should include an adapter so people can use lights, microphones etc.
